Recitation

“Recitation and committing to memory are not necessarily the same thing, and it is well to store a child’s memory with a good deal of poetry, learnt without labour…. attempt only a little, and let the poems the child learns be simple and within the range of his own thought and imaginations”

Charlotte Mason

Memorizing and reciting poems and short passages from literature is simple when done in bite sizes. LLL provides many opportunities for you to choose material for recitation, from scripture, quotes, story lines, etc… We encourage you to start small with only one or two lines. But do choose something every week. Perhaps let your child choose what he or she would like to recite. When committed to memory, let your child share their passages with parents, grandparents and friends.
